FRRO Foreigner Registration In India

All foreign nationals (aside from overseas Indian citizens) visiting India on a long-term visa (more than 180 days) must register with a Registration Officer within 14 days of their arrival under the Indian government’s mandatory FRRO Foreigner Registration requirement. Individuals from Pakistan who visit India must register within 24 hours of their arrival, regardless of the length of their stay. Foreign children under the age of twelve are exempt from registration procedures.

(i) All foreign individuals ( including foreigners of Indian origin) if visiting India for a long period ( more than 180 days) medical visa, student visa, Research Visa, Employment Visa, Project Visa, and Missionary Visa required to get themselves registered with the Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO)/ Foreigners Registration Officer (FRO) concerned of having jurisdiction on the place where foreigner individuals want to stay, within the 14 days of arrival. However, all Business Visa holders must register with the FRRO/ FRO concerned if their total stay in India on a Business Visa exceeds 180 days in a calendar year. (ii) Foreigners other than those listed above shall not be required to register, even if they entered India on a long-term visa, as long as their total stay in India does not exceed 180 days. If they decide to stay for a longer duration, they must register with the relevant Foreigners Registration Officer within 180 days of arrival. However, children under the age of 12 are exempt from the requirement of registration. (iii) Pakistani individuals are compulsory required to register within 24 hours of their arrival (except in the cases where they are granted EPR ( Exemption from Police Reporting) visas and on Medical visas. Pakistani nationals are required to register within 7 days of arrival in the case of a Medical Visa. (iv)No registration is necessary if a foreigner departs within 14 days of his or her arrival on the first visit under that visa.

  1. Photocopy required of your original valid passport
  2. Copy of Visa along with 4 passport-size color photographs.
  3. Three photocopies of the relevant pages of the passport page bearing the arrival stamp of Indian Immigration
  4. A copy of Form C from a hotel or lodge, an energy bill, a landline phone bill, and a municipal bill from the owner if you’re living at a family member or friend’s house, along with a letter and picture ID card from the landlord. If you hire a place to live, you need a copy of the Lease and License deal, including the first and last pages and the page with the terms.
  5. Passport-size color photographs of the applicant

For Employment Visa Registration/Extension
  1. Applicant’s Photo
  2. A photo page, a page that says how long the passport is good for, a page with the Indian Immigration entry stamp, and a visa with a signature.
  3. Form C copy from Hotel or Lodge/ Electricity bill / Landline Telephone / Municipal Bill of the landlord in case of staying in a house of a relative or friend along with a letter and photo-id card of the landlord. In case of rented accommodation copy of the Lease and License agreement (1st and last page page containing its validity)
  4. Employment contract mentioning the salary, employment period, etc.
  5. Request a letter from the company for registration
  6. Letter of commitment from the company signed by an Indian host or approved agent with name and contact number
Student Visa Registration/Extension
For Student Visa Registration/Extension
  1. Photograph of the Applicant
  2. Photo page, page demonstrating validity, a page with Indian Immigration arrival stamp, visa with endorsement
  3. A copy of Form C from a hotel or lodge, a power bill, a landline phone bill, and a municipal bill from the landlord if you are living with family or friends, as well as a letter and a photo ID card from the landlord. If the house is rented, a copy of the lease and licensing agreement (including the first and last pages and the page that says how long it is good).
  4. A letter from the authorities involved in the University/Educational Institution confirming accommodation in the hostel if staying in a dormitory at the University/Educational Institution.
  5. Form S / Valid certificate
  6. Certificate of Registration/Residential Permit
  7. Student visa holder’s/parent’s/sponsor’s bank statement for the last three years, fully validated by bank authorities.
FRRO Employment Visa Registration

Registration: A foreign citizen is required to register with the appropriate FRRO or FRO within 14 days of arriving in the country if their employment visa is valid for longer than 180 consecutive days. When applying for an Employment Visa, if the period of the visa will be 180 days or less, registration with the FRRO or FRO is not required.

FRRO Business Visa Registration
If the holder of a Business Visa plans to remain in India for more than 180 days during a single calendar year, they are required to register with the FRRO or FRO that is responsible for their region.
Note: Registration is required for all sorts of visas if they want to stay in India for longer than 180 days.
